Deborah Lippmann "Wicked" Trio Set

Deborah Lippmann Wicked Trio

Hello, all…for the eve of Christmas, I have the Deborah Lippmann Wicked Trio set.  This set was originally introduced back in October to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Broadway show Wicked.

Deborah Lippmann Popular is a hot pink jelly with a subtle blue shimmer.  It needed three coats for full coverage.  When I first applied it, I didn't really notice the shimmer, until it had dried completely.  Popular also finishes to a slight "satin" finish and a top coat will make it glossy.

Deborah Lippmann Defying Gravity is a beautiful emerald green creme.  Defying Gravity only needed two easy coats.

Deborah Lippmann One Short Day is a slightly teal leaning green glitter.  I used this one as an accent nail over Defying Gravity.

If this set appeals to you and you haven't picked it up, yet…you're in luck, it is currently on sale for $20 (originally $29) at Sephora.  Pick it up here.

Happy Holidays!

Zoya Natural Collection for Spring 2014

Hope everyone had a good week so far.  We've dealing with snow and more snow since Saturday.

Today, I have the newest Zoya Collection for Spring 2014, the Natural Collection.  The colors in this collection are very soft, feminine, neutral colors for a very natural look.  I adored all of them, some more than others.  Let's take a look at these beauties.

Zoya Chantel is described as a "french, vanilla creme".  Chantel is a light creamy warm almond creme. For such a light color, it has wonderful opacity and only needed two coats for full coverage.
Zoya Chantel
Zoya Taylor is described as a "a light toffee cream".  Taylor looks like it's about one shade darker than Chantel.  It's along the same color family as Chantel.  Taylor also was an easy two coater.
Zoya Taylor
Since, Chantel and Taylor are so close in color, I have a side by side comparison here.  Chantel is on the index and ring fingers and Taylor is on the middle and pinky fingers.
Zoya Chantel (index, ring) and Zoya Taylor (middle, pinky)
Zoya Rue is described as a "boudoir blush creme".  Rue is a beautiful, dusty, yet girly, light soft rose creme.  Rue applies slightly sheer at first and builds up nicely after three coats.  I'd have to say that this is my FAVORITE from this collection.
Zoya Rue
Zoya Bridgette is described as a "bombshell mauve cream".  Bridgette is a pretty rose-toned dusty mauve creme.  Bridgette also needed three thin coats for full opacity.
Zoya Bridgette
Zoya Odette is described as a "sultry orchid maroon cream".  Odette is a deep orchid toned mauve creme.  Here are three thin easy coats of Odette.
Zoya Odette
Zoya Normani is described as a "sable mauve creme".  Normani is a deep, greyed out sable mauve.  Normani applied beautifully with two easy coats.  Although, this color is a part of a "spring" line, Normani is an excellent color for winter, too.  This is my second FAVORITE from this collection.
Zoya Normani
The colors from the Zoya Natural Collection for Spring 2014 is now available here for $9.00 each or $54.00 for the entire collection.

Until next time...

Color Club Apollo Star Nail Color

Color Club Apollo Star is a pale champagne metallic with a silver glitter from the Harlem Lights Collection for Winter 2013.  The color dries to a "textured" finish that still comes through (2 coats!!) of a topcoat.  I used two coats of Color Club Apollo Star.

Color Club Apollo Star can be purchased at all Color Club retailers for around $8.00.

First Snow of the Season and a Fabulous Salad...

So, we had the first snow of the season and as always, so beautiful.  All the bare trees were covered in fresh, fluffy snow that resembled cotton balls.  Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year, but the first snow is a close second.  Here are a couple of shots from earlier today.  The first was as the snow was falling and the second is after it had stopped, the sun came out for a few minutes before this gorgeous sunset.

And now for that delicious salad…an apple, cranberry, pistachio and goat cheese salad.  This was one of the things that I made for dinner tonight and needed some recognition not only for it's yummy goodness, but also for it's simplicity.

Apple, Cranberry, Pistachio and Goat Cheese Salad

4 cups mesclun greens
1 apple, chopped (I used a nice Gala)
1/4 cup pistachios
1/4 cup dried cranberries
4 oz. goat cheese

Dressing:
1/8 cup white wine vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
1 Tbsp honey
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper

1. Mix all the ingredients for the dressing in a spill proof container and shake vigorously.
2. Add mesclun greens, chopped apple, pistachios and cranberries to a bowl.
3. Toss with the dressing
4. Top with sliced or crumbled goat cheese
5. Enjoy!

I'm on Bloglovin', too

I'm BAAAACK!

Ok…I'm back.

About 2 months ago, my original blog got hijacked and is non-existent.  At first, I was very angry, then I was slightly relieved (eeeeek, I know), but then, I missed it.  So, for the last few weeks, I've been contemplating whether to start blogging again, or not.

It all came back with a bang about a week ago, when for Hanukkah, a very close friend of mine gave me this!  It re-awakened my passion…and then tonight's dinner pushed me over the edge.  I made one of my favorite meals…shrimp fra diavlo.  It was so easy to make and SO delicious that I thought, this has to be shared.  So, I've decided that along with nail polish, I would like to share anything and everything that is interesting to me and I hope that you will find it interesting, as well.  So, here goes…

the super duper fun swirly pasta
 and

the very yummy shrimp fra diavlo
I also made some family favorite chocolate chip cookies.  Of everything that I make, cook or bake…fresh from scratch chocolate chip cookies are my favorite.  They are my son's number one choice for dessert and tonight was no exception.  When I told him that we were having these for dessert, his response absolutely made my heart melt.  He asked me if the cookies were "fresh, warm and soft"…awww, my little heart breaker.

So, if you're new to this blog, welcome and if you followed the original "The Queen of the Nail", welcome back!  Let's get this fun journey started!
Until next time...
